Party Planning Calendar

We hope the following information helps you to get everything organised in time for your party. That said please don’t hold us responsible if all doesn’t go to plan. We're just trying to help. Detailed at the bottom of this page are some great tips for your first birthday party and boys & girls parties.

7 WBP (Weeks before Party)

Spend some relaxing time with a drink, browsing through the My Party Parcel brochure and Web site, enjoying the excitement of all the wonderful themes and consider the good times to come.

6 WBP

Start to list the names of guests to be invited. This normally includes classmates, friend’s children, neighbours' children and relatives. The more the merrier. Honestly.

Choose a date and venue for the big day and check the availability.

5 WBP

Place your My Party Parcel order. This allows you to choose the cheapest delivery option, saving even more money.

Remember that some adult friends and relatives may also attend the party so a few extra cups for the grown ups and some extra plates for serving the food on is probably worth considering.

4 WBP

Write and distribute your party invitations giving parents of invited guests plenty of notice to get organised for the exciting day.

It’s a good idea to ask some of your closest parent friends to stay during the party to lend a valuable hand during the events. Every little helps.

It might also be nice to allow an older sibling to invite a friend to the party to keep them company whilst you’re busy organising.

Start giving some consideration to the detailed cordon bleu menu you will be serving on the big day. Again remembering the grown ups that will be attending. At ‘My Party Parcel’ jelly and ice cream is part of our staple diet, but we do accept it’s not to every adult's taste.

2-3 WBP

Start considering the types of activities you will be playing during the party and the equipment you will need in order to play those games. You may even want to contact a local entertainer to organise the games for you.

We think a beach in Spain is an ideal place for you to think about these things before the run in to the party.

2-3 DBP (Days Before Party)

Visit your local supermarket and buy all the food required for the party, ensuring you have made adequate freezer / fridge and cupboard space for when you return with the umpteen bags of goodies.

Bake and decorate the cake. It sounds so easy when you write it. Perhaps you should buy this or get your local skilled bakery to prepare this for you.

Check the batteries on your camera and camcorder. There is nothing worse than that piercing, bleeping and flashing red light going off at the special, candle blowing moment.

Check to see if you have matches to light the candles.

Start to fill the Party bags of all the fun items you have purchased from ‘My Party Parcel’ that the children will be taking home with them. That only leaves the slice of cake to be added.

1 DBP

Start to blow up balloons, particularly those that require helium.

Pick up the cake from the bakers (If you decided against baking it yourself).

Start removing all the china, antiques and breakable objects of significant value.

Start to prepare the food that can be refrigerated over night.

Evening Before Party
(After birthday boy/girl has gone to bed)

Decorate the house with banners and balloons for the big birthday morning.

Morning Of Party

Prepare the remainder of the party food.

Decorate the table with the exciting themed items.

Decorate the room with all the exciting themed items.

Complete the party bags with all the exciting themed items.

The Party

Take lots of photographs.

Sneak the odd sausage roll.

Maintain a smile at all times.

Enjoy the wonderful, memorable moments a child’s birthday will provide.

Moments after the Party

Pat yourself on the back for a doing a wonderful job

Organise the next holiday before falling asleep in front of the telly.

PARTY TIPS

FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY TIPS
.
1 - There are often lots of parents at First birthday's so ensure you have extra food and plates for the adults.

2 - Ensure you create lots of space and place a play matt down for the children to play in safely away from any hazzards.

3 - Structured activities are difficult at first birthdays so ensure you have lots of toys available for the children to enjoy.

4 - Make sure you have a changing area available for parents during the party.

MOSTLY BOYS PARTY TIPS
.
1 - Add some extra plain colour plates & cups to your order for hungry adults as they arrive at the end of the party.

2 - Boys parties can be quite energetic so think carefully about the type of activities that will take place at the party
and remember to create lots of space for the children to enjoy safely.

3 - Consider alternative indoor and outdoor activities just in case our great British weather lets you down.

4 - There will usually be some girls at a boys party so remember to consider the girls when planning your activities.

5 - If there are girls at the boys party don't forget to grab some appropriate girls party bag fillers.

6 - End the party with the party food, so the children don't run around around after eating.

7 - After the party food, at the end of the party, pop a DVD on whilst you await the collecting paraent.
This will ensure the children's food can digest properly and will ocuupy the children as the numbers get smaller.

8 - Don't forget the extra napkins to wrap the birthday cake in for your guests to take home at the end of the party.

HALLOWEEN PARTY TIPS
.

1 - Decorate your party venue with Scene Setters, Hanging decorations and Spiders Webs but make sure the activity area is free of hazards.

2 - As party host make the biggest effort to dress up for the occassion but be sure not to look too scary as this may upset some children.

3 - Choose your party bag fillers carefully as there will usually be a mixture of boys and girls at the party

4 - End the party after the food with a game of guess the ghost (See Halloween Activity) as this is a less active game and will allow for dinner to go down and can be played with a varying number of children which is ideal when parents start to arrive to collect their children at the end of the party.

5 - To ensure all your guests remain happy and well behaved at the party ensure they drink plenty of juice/water throughout the party to avoid them overhetaing and dehydrating.
