HOW MUCH SHOULD MY PARTY COST?

So it’s party month again, already, and project party is about to get underway. Not only is it really important to ensure everything is right for the big day, but party competition is fierce amongst parents and children.

If invitations don’t go out soon enough, diary dates are booked up with other children’s parties, if you don’t invite the whole class plus other friends from clubs will anyone get upset, having invited everybody, how many people will actually attend and if the party bag isn’t as good as the one your child came back with from last weeks party will anyone notice, and more importantly where is the best place to buy all my necessary children’s party supplies.

These questions alone are enough to create panic amongst even the most efficient party organiser. But the biggest question of all in these difficult times is, ‘How Much Should My Party Cost’?

The answer is simply, not as much as you think. With more and more parents choosing to hold there parties at home to avoid additional venue hire fees, the children’s party supplies industry average spend is as little as £35.00. So what does £35.00 get you?

Typically to organise your party at home your basic party parcel would include themed tableware including plates, cups, napkins and table covers to protect your dining room table, remembering to add a few extra for the parents who, when arriving at the end of the party are sure to help clear the table of any left over food. Then there are the all important party bags. The average number of party bag fillers is only 3 items, with maybe an additional sweet and room for a piece of cake wrapped in the themed napkin for your guests to take home. All of this can easily be achieved for less than the average £35.00.

We have lots of information online to assist with your party organising with information and advice on party activities and planning for the important day.

So with everything considered, party time can be both fun and affordable, so sit back, order early and enjoy the big day, and don’t forget the batteries for the camera to capture all the memories.

IDEAS FOR ORGANISING A WORLD CUP FOOTBALL PARTY!

This month sees the start of the 2010 World Cup Finals in South Africa and what more of a reason do we need to organise a fun summer football party. Whether it’s a birthday or not, the World Cup is always a thrilling event particularly if your country are involved so why not organise for some of your children’s friends and family to get together for a World Cup party.

There are lots of football party supplies and decorations available and it could be easy to get carried away so it’s always wise to start with a clear list of things to prepare and purchase to avoid temptations.

We have put together the top 5 list of ideas to consider assisting you in making sure you have all you need to have the best football fun at a great price without over spending.

1 – To avoid making too much food and being left with lots left over, why not give each guest a football party box full of food ideas. This will help for any guests with specific dietary requirements, and because you are likely to be sat in front of the T.V. for the big game, will save on crumbs and people having to get up and down to the food table.

2 – Don’t go overboard with decorations. A simple Football Hanging Decoration over the front door and a football Flag Banner across the ceiling/walls will be all you need to decorate the room for the big match.

3 – Instead of the usual party bag full of goodies which if careful can start to add up, why not have a penalty shootout in the garden/park after the game and send your guest home with a medal for their skills. At as little as £0.37p each, they are a brilliant themed treat at a great price.

4 - Sweets are a great treat at parties but not everyone will want some, so why not buy just one large football bowl which can be used again in the future and fill it with smaller treats for your guests to tuck into after the game rather than buying sweet bags for everyone.

5 – Instead of Football napkins and cups to go with your Football party boxes, why not stick to plain colour tableware like Green or Black napkins and cups which match the theme and at £0.76p per pack of 16 napkins cheaper and £0.27p per pack of 8 cups cheaper make a great saving.

A complete Football party gathering for a World Cup match for 16 guests based on these simple recommendations could cost as little as £1.73p per guest (before food), and is sure to put a huge smile on all your guests faces, Just keep your fingers crossed your team wins!

How to Have the Best Pirate Birthday Party Ever!

Pirates have for a very long time been a source of great fascination for children. This is the reason why a pirate party can be one of the best and entertaining party ideas in existence if you are willing to pay attention to detail with the planning process. There are things you will need, of course, in order to pull the pirate's party off without a hitch and the most important is a lot of patience and the ability to organize well, plan for contingencies, and be flexible when the big event finally arrives. If you manage to do all these things with style and skill then a pirate's life may well be for you.

Set the stage with the invitations. A great idea to use for the invites is our pirate Party Invites that include the date and time and remind everyone to dress in their pirate's best (make a costume contest a part of the festivities). This lets everyone know the theme ahead of time as well as the fact that they should show for the occasion in pirate fancy dress and when they do show up, make sure you greet them with fantastic pirate party bags.

For decorations you will want to make the party room or the outside of the house, wherever you are going to hold the party look like a pirate's ship using pirate party supplies. This type of party is best if held outdoors in order to provide great places for burying treasure and hiding stuff. If that isn't really possible, you'll just have to get creative inside the home.

Whether or not it's a pirate's life for you, chances are quite good that throwing an excellent pirate themed birthday bash will make you the mum or dad of your little one's dreams at least for a day and will give the neighborhood and, of course, all your guests something to talk about until the next great event takes place.

WHAT SHOULD I PUT IN MY CHILD’S PARTY BAGS?

The process of party organising can be a daunting affair for parents. The children’s party supplies market has grown significantly over the last few years and so has, so it seems the number of parties in a child’s weekend calendar.

The regular weekend trip to another school friends house, community hall or Leisure Centre seemingly never ends, and nor does the volume of party bags and party bag fillers that come back from these weekend events.

So when getting dangerously close to your turn to plan the party, the question has to be asked, ’What Should I Put in My Childs Party Bags’.

There is a huge ranges of party bag fillers and toys ranging from 10p to £10, so when deciding what to put into the bags and what to spend can be a tricky process. Here are a few tips to consider when putting your party bags together.

1 - The typical number of items that go into a party bag is 4, so there is no need to go over board.

2 - If you are having a themed party, you will often find that the themed party bag fillers are more expensive as they are a licensed product so why not choose just 1 or 2 themed items to place in the bag including themed bubbles or stickers.

3 - Non-themed party bag fillers are a lot cheaper and often come in packs of 12 items which means you can buy more for less.

4 - Sweets are a fun party bag filler however with allergies more prevalent these days, you need to carefully consider if this is the best option.

5 - At the end of the party add a piece of the party cake wrapped in the themed party napkin which will certainly fill the bag up with a great treat for the drive home.

A fantastic party bag can cost as little as £1.00 per bag and creates a farewell treat for the children attending the party. So remember, no need to break the bank, just be creative.

Festive Party Game

With lots of fun festive parties coming up over the next few weeks we thought we would share a great party activity to create lots of laughter.

'IT'S A WRAP'

Organise the children into small teams of 4 or 5 and in straight lines at one end of the party room.

Opposite each teams line at the other end of the room place lots of ripped up, torn pieces of wrapping paper in varying sizes, a plain sealed box and lots of pre-cut cellotape.

Between each team, their box & paper, place a hoop, large sheet or duvet.

The children should take it in turns to leave their line, crawl under the sheet/duvet or put the hoop over their head and once at their box, stick a peice of wrapping paper to their parcel before returning to their teams and high five the next person in the line for the next child to go.

The winning team will be the first team to successfully completely cover their box in wrapping paper.

It's always a good idea to allocate a parent to each team to assist in the activity.

For grown up party fun why not replace the box with a party guest. The winning team is the team with the best wrapped person!

Postal Strikes Continue

Whilst we have so many fun topics to share with you we consider it essential to keep you informed of the impending Royal Mail Industrial Action.

The official word from the Royal Mail web site is as follows;

''Whilst this is a further, serious development, national strike action is not inevitable and concentrated talks between Royal Mail and the CWU are continuing to take place'.

'I'n the event national strikes do take place, mail services on strike days will be very limited and as a consequence, some delay to the collection, sorting, distribution and delivery of mail will be inevitable'.

We do use the Royal Mail Postal Service to deliver some of our smaller parcels so if your party is fast approaching we do recommend upgrading to our 'Super Quick' or 'Wow Quick' delivery options which are delivered by couriors and is a fast trackable service. To view all our delivery options see our Delivery Page.

To be aware of the regional postal strikes in your area, and how you may be affected by the action, visit the Royal Mail 'Service Information' web page which is updated daily.
